Eastport Yacht Club Special Events Committee held the 2nd Annual
Awards Party for EYC Regattas on SATURDAY, JULY 26th from 5 – 11 PM
at EYC. This year we celebrated racing and honored the racers of both the
July 18th Solomons Island Invitational and the July 26th Chesapeake Bay
Women’s Challenge.
The Awards Party featured music by Blue Thrill. Each boat entered in the Solomons regatta received five (5) complimentary tickets to the Awards Party. Additional tickets were available at $5 per person at the door. EYC offered for sale: beer, wine, soft drinks and mixed drinks as well as a wide variety of grilled favorites and sides. Happy Hour specials were offered from 5 – 6. The 2008 Awards Party will benefited two organizations. One is the EYC Junior Sailing Program which is raising funds to expand their fleet and to be able to offer more scholarship opportunities to area youngsters who might not otherwise learn to sail and race. The other is Anne Arundel CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates for abused and/or neglected children. CASA will also be offering a Silent Auction and a 50/50 raffle during the Awards Party. We hope you enjoyed the race to Solomons, rest-up or race Screwpile and came to celebrate EYC on July 26th for the awards and an evening of fun. This party was open to all who race and support racing. Special thanks to thoes who brought their stories and friends and make this party an extra special evening! At the request of many racers we offered some wicking shirts for the 2008 race. Both of the men’s shirts are UnderArmour. We have a red polo for both men and women with an embroidered Solomons logo. You can order these red polos with your boat name on the back under the collar. We are also offering a mens UA raglan sleeved tee in navy and a women's Champion V-neck tee in navy. Both navy shirts will have the Solomons logo screen printed on the shirt and no boat names are available.
